Project:
Last, the baroque opera 'Alcione' was performed 238 years ago. With Lorenz Duftschmid as conductor and Philipp Harnoncourt as director, there gathered a team, which realised this musical jewel of an opera with a lot of esprit and wonderful ideas. With a narrow and respectfully cooperation, interest in this masterpiece of the baroque music was woken up in the media as well as in public.
Result:
Phillipp Harnoncourt and Lorenz Duftschmid created an outstanding production of Marais Opera 'Alcione'. Huge success, artistically as well as with the audience and the media. All eight performances were sold out and partially overbooked. International media echo (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, West German Radio) from almost euphoric dimension crowned this work. In addition, the performance series was also enriched with an extra program. For example, the film 'The seventh string' about the composer Marin Marais was shown in cooperation with the Institute Français de Vienna and Lorenz Duftschmid did a solo recital with a special program of compositions of Marin Marais and Antoine Forqueray.
